MEXICO CITY (24/ABR/2013.) – Banco Mercantil del Norte (Banorte) signed an agreement with Western Union Company, which will allow the bank to the global money transfer service of this payment company, for five years.
Through a statement sent to the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV), will financial institution, subsidiary of Grupo Financiero Banorte, said the agreement will allow the bank to position itself as a leader in the international payments market.
The CEO of Grupo Financiero Banorte, Alejandro Valenzuela, said: “The agreement with Western Union strengthens our international payments services for our clients and their families living abroad”.
For his part, the president of Western Union for the Americas, Odilon Almeida said, “having the services of Western Union in the Banorte branches will allow us to extend the reach and provide reliable financial services for consumers in the country.”
He stressed that “the international scale of Western Union, along with a brand recognized worldwide for its speed and reliability, is the foundation that has allowed the organization to continue to grow.”
Banorte has a network of more than 1,300 branches in the country. In a first step, Western Union services will be offered in most of these branches, followed by a nationwide release.
